What Type of Renovation Do You Need?

The title says it all. Most home renovations fall into this classification because the home owner is trying to improve some aspect of their home. Maybe you need more space and the basement needs to be finished. Or perhaps the kitchen doesn’t have all the amenities and functionality that you would like. Rather than moving, a home improvement renovation can enhance your quality of life without taking you out of your familiar surroundings.

Condo renovations fall into a class by themselves. That is because of the additional levels of approval and restrictions that most condominium associations / managers place on the renovation contractor. It is important to work with a renovator that has experience with these issues to ensure that you don’t run afoul of the association, municipality, police and your neighbours.

This is a very large and growing aspect of renovation projects. As the baby boomers age, there is an increasing need for alterations to their home to allow them to age in place. Most of us would prefer to remain in the comfort of our own homes, as long as we can effectively manage the day to day routine of life. From major changes such as walk in tubs, ramps, chairlifts, elevators, and re-location of electrical switches and plugs down to simple changes like installing lever style faucets and handles on doors can significantly impact our ability to stay self sufficient.

Environmentalism is an important aspect of modern life. It is natural therefore that Green renovation products, services and processes have become an important part of the renovation industry. Energy efficiency adds value to your home and reduces your operating costs. It is important when planning a renovation that you work with companies that are experienced with green renovation techniques. All your systems must work together in order to maximize the benefit of the renovation.

A Message from Ram Sharma – President of A Lifetime General Contractor Ltd.

The company was established in 1947 by brothers Mike and Nick Giordano, They were visionaries and hardworking pioneers who worked tirelessly to lay the foundation of the company for what it is today.

The motto of the company was and still is to provide value based service to the home owners in GTA. In 1975 the company was incorporated as A Lifetime General Contractor Ltd and Nick took over the reins of the company as President.

The company generally concentrated on exterior renovation work and at the time that served the pioneers well.

In 1995 Nick’s daughter Sandra Baldwin (Nee Giordano) joined the company Initially to managed the office and then to move the company to undertake interior renovation work as well.

In 2002 Sandra acquired the company from her father and took helm of the company as President of A Lifetime General Contractor Ltd.

Sandra established the company as a leader in home renovation in and around GTA.

In 2014 Sandra sold all rights to the company to Ram Sharma and he has strived to steer the company in new direction. Due to unforeseen circumstances the company had to scale back and at times cease operation in order to meet new challenges.

The company has now resumed normal operation and it is committed to bring back the same quality of service it provided under Sandra Baldwin.

I am excited to announce the resumption of operations of the company and look forward to serving the GTA community with same vigor.

What Our Clients Say…

General Feedback

You and your team are the holy trinity of contractors – on time, on spec and on budget. Your personal attention and the absolute professionalism with which all of your people approach every task are a credit to your profession.

I just want to say that without exception, one of the questions that everyone asked when they found out what we were doing was ‘How do you find working with the contractor?’ Answer: We couldn’t be more pleased – with the people and with the work.

I am delighted to recommend your work to anyone. Last summer, you took my outdated house frontage and gave it street presence and made it sale-able. And it was a practical, smart and reasonable cosmetic design. It changed the house.
